Day 5: Rainy Days

Today is a cold and rainy day but considering that is now January and we are finally seeing cool weather, I'll take it. I do enjoy days like today because we all get to stay in our pajama's and I can try to get caught up on chores. We are taking down our Christmas decorations today and I think my kids are a little upset about the whole ordeal. Christmas really is such a wonderful time of year - when you're a kid. As an adult, it's actually kind of crazy and stressful. I can see my parents laughing while reading this because of my dads warning all throughout my childhood of the "rude-awakening." A time when I realize that life isn't always sunshine and roses and that there's a thing called responsibility. I miss being a kid.

So technically this was yesterday but I wanted to make sure it was posted. Last night our sweet Eva-cakes was kind of fighting going to bed but the one thing that always works, her daddy. No matter how fussy she is he always seems to calm her down and put her right to sleep. Here's my love with our sweet little girl...

With each of our kids, the only song he ever sings to them is "You Are My Sunshine" and I love how they all look up at him with such adoration. He may drive me nuts but he's a great daddy!

Today was also a big day for our Houston Texans! They played the Bengals and WON! Wooohoo. I am admittedly a fair weather fan and now that we are in the playoffs we are glued to the TV screen each weekend rooting them on. And of course, what kind of fans would would we be if we didn't have our own Texans gear??

Bryce will really get into the games when he sees Daddy all riled up. If Matthew screams out "yea!!" So does Bryce. If Matthew screams out "oh come on!!!" So does Bryce. And if Matthew screams out "DAMN!" Yep, you got it...he's a little mini-me to his daddy but I know that Matthew loves it! Next game we play the New England Patriots so we are obviously a huge underdog but will be cheering our Texans on all the same! GO TEXANS!!!

Now to play catch up...

Day 1

Happy 2013!!! New Years Eve was kind of yuck with the rain and the cold but it didn't stop daddy from going out and popping off a few fireworks for our kiddos. Bryce was NOT a fan and at one point started screaming "NO DADDY. STOP!" Poor dude. Both kids loved the sparklers and we had to remind Bryce that it's not nice to chase his sister around with it. New Years Day we woke up with every intention of taking Skylar and Bryce to the movies because again, it was another rainy day but sometimes our kids make "other" arrangements and getting out of the house can be a real chore!
Instead we had a nice brunch at Cheesecake Factory which interestingly enough is exactly what Matthew and I did last year. So we've now decided that it we must make it a tradition to start our New Year there!
After brunch we headed to Barnes and Noble where we rode the stairs a couple of times and then let the kids pick out a new book. Bryce picked "Little Blue Truck Goes To the City" and Skylar chose "Silverlicious." I love that the love books!! Once we finished up there we took Bryce to get his haircut as he was long overdue and really beginning to sprout such lovely locks. I am one of those gals that likes a clean cut kinda guy so long hair is not my cup of tea. He did really well because his stylist had BUBBLES so he was in heaven. Skylar however would not sit still because she was told that we would ride the carousel afterwards so every 2 minutes was "can we go now?"

...Finally he finished and it was on to the carousel. My son LOVES the carousel. I mean...they both really enjoy it but Bryce takes it to a whole different level of fun! As I've said before, he is my happy boy! We finally finished our busy morning by nice long naps! It's a great start to a great year!
