Day 120 & 121

...and I was doing SO good at keeping up with it. Oh well...

Monday was a typical Monday with just trying to get caught up on chores around the house while my little ones chased me around. So Tuesday is my day to really get stuff done! Funny how I'll start my day out with a mental list of everything I'm going to get done today - do laundry, make grocery list, drop off dry cleaning, go to bootcamp, return bathing suit, go to Ikea, etc. And yes, this is all stuff that I somehow convince myself I'm going to do in one day! ha! I think I got part of the laundry done...fail. I try not to let it get to me but the older and older I get, I'm becoming my fathers daughter and need things to be orderly. But he only had one kid. I've got three. We've all made fun of my dad throughout the years and his borderline OCD. I know that OCD is no laughing matter but I really do think that my dad teeters on the border of it. He likes things very tidy and is meticulous in his way of approaching projects. My grandmother says he's always been that way and lucky her for not having to clean up after him. Now there's me. I'm not a super duper clean freak by any means but I'll have moments of panic or just freaking out about certain things that Matthew can't help but laugh at. Example..I just spent all of this time reorganizing things so do NOT let me find you trying to mess up the system. My cleaning lady placed coffee mugs in the wrong place and I was having a mild freak-out, waiting for her to leave so I can fix it. I say "wrong" place because clearly there's a spot for my thicker-colored mugs, and a different spot for my dainty-white mugs. Do not mix them. Or Matthew will go into the garage and set stuff down on the ground and leave it there. It'll drive me nuts!!! Everything has a label and a designated "home", find it! I'm not crazy, I promise. Now with the kiddos, I can't expect them to know how to organize or keep things tidy - they're kids. But I do have them in the habit of removing their backpacks from the car and placing them in the kitchen. Or taking their shoes to their bedroom and not just throwing them on the floor. Skylar is MUCH better at this then Bryce and even though Bryce emulates my dad in so many ways, cleanliness is NOT one of them. That being said, if you come to my house - don't expect to hear angels sing when you open the door. Or to have the fresh smell of lavender fill the air because chances are, toys will be everywhere, the kitchen a mess (from all of the umpteen meals and snacks because of hearing "I'm hungry" a thousand times of day), and you're definitely not going to be smelling lavender. No sir. I've got 2 in diapers and a dog that we've nicknamed Roxy, The Farting Dog (after the book). So like I said above - despite how long my list is - I'll accomplish maybe 1 of those things in a single day. Once I got the kiddos from school, we went to smoothie king for a snack and then home to wait on daddy. Skylar had a complete meltdown because we told her that we were no longer going to the Marlins swim team practice but to a new one. She freaked. I felt so bad but they recently adjusted the practice time to now start at 7:00pm and go until 7:40pm. Which means after getting her home - fed, bathed, and dressed; she'd maybe be in bed by 9:15 -9:30pm. I just can't do that to her. She's already so tired when she gets home from school and getting her up at 6:00am is already tough on her. So we made the decision to change to a different team that offers early class times. I hope she adjusts well and that we don't end up shooting ourselves in the foot since she just started becoming comfortable with the new instructors.

Wednesday:
Today was a loooooong day. Skylar crawled in bed with us about 3:00am and I couldn't go back to sleep. I finally got out of bed around 3:50am and decided to go for a bike ride. My tri is coming up soon and I haven't really done anything in the form of training so why not start today? I surprised myself in what I could do but paid for it the rest of the day. Lack of sleep coupled with an 8 mile bike ride, 2 mile run, a very hyper boy, and a stuffy-headed little baby girl makes for a loooooonnnng day. I'm sure I've said it before but Wednesday's are typically the hardest days because Skylar is in school and Bryce is not. He's tired from the day before and bored since all he has is Eva to play with so he spends most of his time either crying to be held, or completely tearing up the house. Today his frustrations were taken out on my bathroom (all the cabinets and drawers were emptied) and his playroom. He pulled everything down of the top of their bookcases and then emptied most of the bins that contain a gazillion toys. Thankfully he took a good nap and I even got to have a quick nap myself. Eva was not having it at first and I literally prayed to God that she would nap beside me so that I could at the very least have 30 minutes of rest. I got 35 minutes. Thanks, God - you ROCK! Bryce was so excited that it was finally time to go get "sissy" and eagerly got into his seat. However, once she was there his mood quickly changed since she was in a very bad mood. Poor baby girl is all stuffed up and complaining that her eye won't stop crying. Upon closer inspection, it's not tears but mucous coming from her eyes and after a quick call to the doctor, found out it's most likely due to allergens which is something we are all suffering from. As usual. For your viewing pleasure, I snapped a pic of the eye gunk. I shared with my friends to get their opinions cause that's just what we do!
Yummo, right?! I feel bad for her though cause I can tell it's aggravating her. Thankfully I was able to kind of use this as a reason for why we can't go to swim tonight. We already went the route of trying to explain that she's part of a new swim team that doesn't start until next week but my goodness! Waterworks! So instead I used the above eye mishap as a reason for not going and she seemed to understand but also expected lots of cuddles and snuggles because after all she's "sick." Little Eva decided Skylar was getting way too much attention and her eye started watering and getting red. I was told to watch out for red though sooooo...I'm keeping an eye on her. Ha..keeping any "eye" on her...I'm a nerd. Here she is...poor wittle thing...
Praying that they both feel better quick because 3 kiddos with allergies or head colds or WHATEVER it is making it's way around my house is NO fun.
