Day 109: Out with the old, in with the new!

So, like I said - starting this kitchen project has seriously spun off several thousand other projects liiiiike, redecorate the living room! How does that happen you ask? Well, in buying new stuff to decorate the kitchen, my brain starts wondering and thinking - hmm, this would look good above the fire place and this would be perfect for the art niche. And what ends up happening? I buy one thing for the kitchen and a gazillion others for the living room. Sigh. Problem is, I should have measured my spaces first before buying things because I found this beauty...
at Kirklands AND it was on clearance...so I snatched it up thinking it would be perfect. I should have known when I spent the next 30 minutes trying to get the damn thing in my car, it was not going to end well. Again I ask - why would you NOT ask to help someone if you clearly see they have 3 kids and all of this crap?! I'm sure I was quite the sight in the parking lot with my stroller "running" away from me, diapers thrown everywhere (I keep a stash in the back), my pants around my ankles (hooray for loosing weight), and my kids screaming and fighting (who's idea was it to put them all in one row?!). I finally managed to get this beast in along with all of my other bags of stuff AND my double jogger, only to find that it's too big! Waaaah!

It is MASSIVE. If it were just a tad shorter or my ceilings were a tad taller - it'd be perfect, but that's not how my world goes. I'm kind of looking forward to returning it since no one helped me with it. I just wanna go and chuck it at 'em! But I won't...instead I'll probably replace it with another, less massive, picture to go above the fireplace.

The reorganizing project is nearly done! I have some tidying up to do here and there but for the most part - it's finished! Woot! Skylar was a great deal of help in distracting her brother and Eva seemed to do okay just as long as she heard them playing near her. The girl likes noise, I tell ya. By far one of my most favorite things to "organize" were my spices. This was my spice cabinet before...

A huge, cluttered mess! I can't tell you how many times I'd go to get one thing and a thousand other things fall out on top of me. It was such a disaster. But now....after the handy tip from the blog I'm following...

awww yeaaaah! These little puppies may look small but they hold A LOT. And because of the seal, I think it will keep them fresher longer. I'm putting round Avery labels on them once I get to the store to get them but for now it's just my chicken scratch. They're in alphabetical order, making them easy to find, and I have the expiration date on the bottom. With any of the leftovers, I added them back to my VERY clean cabinet and will just fill the jars back up when necessary.

Definitely my favorite! Here are some more pics of what we accomplished ...

Those are to just name a few. I still need to get some bins for the pantry, organize under the kitchen sink, and then decorate. So..I'm thinking it should be completely done by Sunday. I'd say Saturday but we have our "Run for Hope" race so probably not going to happen. Speaking of which - gotta head to bed and rest up. Skylar's already trying to get out of it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed we're able to convince her to go! Stay tuned...
