Day 97: Happy Birf-day, Jax!!

We're finally making progress on getting Jack's name right. Remember first there was "Josh" given to him by Skylar, and then "Jacket" from Bryce. Skylar now calls him Jack but Bryce is sticking with "Jax." My baby cousin is 10 years old! Double-digits! I remember when he was first born and how tiny he was. I was just a month shy of turning 21 and holding my Aunties first baby, her miracle. I remember her crying as I held him saying "I held you when you were first born and now you're holding MY baby." It was all very surreal. Now fast-forward 10 years and you have a tall, rambunctious, burping, pickin-your-nose, 10 year old BOY! He's a boy no doubt about it and Bryce just loooooved him. That's Bryce's kinda fun...because my day here with him has consisted of - breaking a plate, flooding the kitchen, dipping a cup into the toilet and spilling water all over the bathroom floor, peeing in a play kitchen pot, and pooping on the patio. The icing on the cake? Roxy eating it. It's been FUNNN! So Bryce sees Jack and is in heaven - now HERE'S someone who gets me. Lordy.

Jack's birthday party was a lot of fun. Auntie had games (as usual) and a really yummy spread of sandwiches and tater salad. Bryce managed to win the hot potato game and the "guess how many Lego's game." He was happy as long as there was more "canny" and "shellows" involved. Best part was Jack putting together a puzzle of Mickey Mouse and wondering exactly why he had do it right now. His mama said "well, Mickey's your real dad" and his response "ya, good one mom." He even sounds like a 10 year old already.
The puzzle reads: "Happy 10th birthday, Jack. You're going to Disney in Florida!" How cool is that?! She's so creative. My poor Skylar was lost and thought that meant we were all going - RIGHT NOW. I tried to explain that he's not leaving until Friday but I'm thinking she still thinks that we are all going. One day little princess, one day.

The kiddos all had fun and were definitely on a sugar high. I was still jittery from the stress leading up to going (a whole other topic) and in my hurry, backed right into a car. Note to self: do not become so dependent on parking sensors because MAYBE your two year old might turn them off while crawling around in your car. My loving  husband says "did you even look at your backup camera, Sarah?" Uh - yes I did and said - hmmm, now that looks like a fun car to run into. Turd. Anyway - the neighbor was nice enough to say it was no big deal since his car went pretty much unscathed. Mine however has a bit of paint and scratches on it. But what's a mom car unless she's banged up a bit. Adds character, right?! ;-)

Happy Birthday, Jack Barrett!!!
