Day 98: Backyard picnic and tummy bugs...

oye. Here we are again. There's a really bad stomach bug going around (still) and Bryce and Eva both had it the week before Easter. Well, now Skylar has/had it. I knew something was up because she was super-duper whiney. Sunday night she was complaining that her tummy hurt but I honestly thought it was from all the sugar she had at the birthday party. But when it was still lingering this morning and she told me "my tummy still kinda hurts and I already went poppy lottsa times", I'm guessing tummy bug. Good news is that it's fast. Or at least for her. By 10:30 this morning she was pouncing off the walls, wanting to eat, and no more quick trips to the bathroom. So fingers crossed that maybe it passed through her quickly. Please God.

Since we were stuck inside, I used this opportunity to get a million things done. Okay, not a million but it certainly felt like it. I paid bills, sorted files (the mail was endless),

sent emails about their fundraisers, did laundry, cleaned car seat covers, bed linens, and more. I also cleaned up the backyard, straightened the living area and playroom and made dinner. Oh and almost forgot - tweaked my back. Grrrr. I think all the lifting of car seats and bending over into the dryer did something. Or it could've been when I was determined to wrestle out one of my van seats from the closet. We took one seat out to allow easier access to the 3rd row since that's where I kept the kiddos buuuuuut, after all the news on car seat safety and how kids Skylar's age are being injured because of being in the wrong seat - I was determined to get her back into her 5 point. But that means no 3rd row because she doesn't quite have the dexterity to release the button between her legs so I need to be able to help her when she goes through car line. So now, they'll all be on one row - Lord, grant me patience.

One of the fun things for the day was that Skylar asked if we could have a picnic because it's her "favorite thing in the whole wide world." What am I supposed to say to that?! So outside we went only Skylar didn't join us. She wanted to sit on the patio furniture, in the shade. Bryce and I did enjoy some Vitamin D..and tuna! ;)
Eva was not interested in a picnic either because when I went inside to get her, I found this...
I do believe she is growing. Oh, and something I didn't mention in earlier posts is that we have teeth!! That's right, plural. She sprouted her first one last Saturday and then the second started cutting yesterday. Poor girl is miserable so this calm, peaceful moment makes my heart happy. This evening as we were getting everyone ready for bed, I asked Skylar to watch her sister while I grabbed a diaper. When I came back to their room, I could hear Skylar talking to her so I paused for a moment at the door and this is what I heard "I love you forever, I like you for ah-wayz. As long as I'm living, my baby sister you'll be!" Even now I have tears in my eyes remembering it. It was such a precious moment and Eva was just staring at her in awe. I came in and gave Skylar a big hug and told her that she's such an amazing big sister. She said "that's her favorite book mama." So she said that line again followed by "and she grewed. And she grewed, And she grewed." Oh Skylar - I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living MY baby you'll be!
